Job Responsibilities:

  • Medication Management: Interpret and evaluate physician orders to prepare and dispense medication dosage forms for inpatient and outpatient treatment in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Patient Care: Review, maintain, and screen patient medication records and profiles for allergies, drug interactions, and therapeutic duplications while entering orders and/or verifying medications.
  • Team Leadership: Organize daily operational duties and assist in supervising pharmacy technicians, aides, student interns, and other ancillary personnel involved in providing pharmaceutical care.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory requirements, professional standards of practice, and hospital quality management policies and procedures in providing pharmaceutical care.
  • Communication: Communicate with physicians and nurses to ensure prompt clarification of orders that are unclear, illegible, or incomplete.
  • Education and Training: Provide drug information and/or educational programs to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
  • Technology Utilization: Utilize all available technologies in the provision of pharmaceutical care, including computer systems and databases.
  • Prescription Fulfillment: Fill prescription orders in accordance with state and federal regulations, utilizing technological resources and equipment.
  • Aseptic Technique: Prepare and dispense intravenous admixture solutions using aseptic technique in an accepted sterile product preparation area.
  • Adverse Reaction Reporting:
  • Sustain Formulary: Identify and report suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner, and sustain the formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy selection.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy is required.
  • 3-6 months of hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with investigational drug control procedures and protocol design is preferred.
  • Licensure as a Pharmacist and Act 34 clearance is also required.

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this position is $143,000-$160,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
