Key Responsibilities:


The Surgical Instrumentation Supervisor serves as a pivotal resource for surgical services, ensuring the timely availability of sterile and complete instrument sets. This role involves:

  • Acting as a communication link between surgical teams and sterile processing staff.
  • Providing training and support to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment to ensure high-quality patient care.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating effective communication among surgical personnel and hospital departments.
  • Guiding staff on operational policies and procedures related to sterile processing.
  • Monitoring and documenting the status of surgical instruments, ensuring they are ready for use.
  • Encouraging teamwork and trust among staff members.
  • Conducting daily checks of surgical schedules to confirm instrument readiness.
  • Managing inventory and preparing lists for upcoming surgical needs.
  • Participating in departmental duties as required.
  • Engaging in on-call rotations and adapting work schedules as necessary.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess either a High School diploma or have completed a Surgical Technician program. Additionally, candidates must:

  • Complete a Central Sterile Program within six months of employment if not already certified.
  • Obtain Instrument Technician certification within 24 months of employment.
  • Have a minimum of 8 months of relevant experience in sterile processing.
  • Demonstrate advanced skills in instrument identification, assembly, and decontamination.
  • Be capable of mentoring new staff as needed.
  • Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Windows, and Word.
