Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced EHS Director to provide executive-level leadership for EHS activities across all company business units. This role requires a career EHS professional with a passion for driving continuous improvement in process efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the entire organization in EHS matters, providing leadership and technical expertise to meet all business and company objectives.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, federal, OSHA, EPA, and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Plan and implement EHS programs, train supervisors, managers, and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemical hazards, physical hazards, and other workplace safety issues.
  • Investigate incidents and injuries, coordinate the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in workers' comp hearings, lawsuits, insurance reports, and OSHA, EPA, or DOT investigations.
  • Oversee the administration of workers' compensation program, partnering with operations leaders, human resource professionals, risk management, legal department officials, and insurance adjusters.
  • Oversee the administration of the company drug & alcohol testing program and closely partner with Hood's human resource representatives on compliance efforts.
  • Oversee the administration of the company fleet safety manual and closely partner with Hood's distribution and transportation representatives on compliance efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations associated with the use of anhydrous ammonia at our 12 processing plants.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree in science, engineering, or a related discipline, plus 20 years of related experience, 10 of which are in management leadership capacity.
  • A master's degree in a relevant discipline or certification as a CSP or other recognized certification is desired.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
