The Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps seeks a highly skilled Oncology Nurse Specialist to join our team in Falls Church, VA. As an expert in critical care nursing, you will provide advanced level professional nursing care to critically ill patients with cancer and benign and malignant blood disorders. Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest on the Puget Sound, this position offers a unique blend of urban and natural amenities.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a seasoned clinical oncology professional who can administer medications, educate patients, and provide specialized care to those affected by cancer. With a strong background in oncology nursing, you will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced level nursing care to critically ill patients with cancer and benign and malignant blood disorders.
- Evaluate and coordinate all aspects of pre-and post-chemotherapy care.
- Develop and/or adjust nursing plans of care for patients.
- Ensure patient transfer to appropriate level of care in the event that further care or observation is needed.
- Counsel patients concerning protocols, anticipated results, procedures to be performed, possible complications, and subsequently monitor patients during chemotherapy treatments.

Requirements- A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
- A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
- At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) which includes providing nursing care to oncology patients, administering medications, and educating patients.
