Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Healthcare Staffing Professionals, Inc. in Port Orchard, WA.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work with K2 students in an adaptive function setting, providing individualized support and instruction to help students achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of students in need of special education programs.
  • Administer, transfer, and interpret diagnostic data as appropriate to their area.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Adapt the curriculum with individual plans and instructional materials to meet the needs of each pupil.
  • Evaluate student's academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Maintain a program inventory of materials and supplies.
  • Submit budget request needs.
  • Participate in the development of a District-in-service educational program.
  • Maintain lines of communication with all stakeholders (staff, students, parents, administration).
  • Maintain proper and adequate supervision of students at all times.
  • Assist in supervising students in related activities outside of the immediate classroom.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of special education and be able to transfer this knowledge into program activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining their personal growth and development in the areas of special education.
  • Read professional literature pertinent to the field of special education.
  • Willing to participate in self-evaluation activities to improve their self/professional outlook.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid and Appropriate WA Special Education Teacher Certificate
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
