Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Health Advocates Network, Inc. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans: Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with moderate to severe disabilities.
  • Provide Direct Instruction: Provide direct instruction to students in various subjects, adapting teaching methods and materials to suit individual needs.
  • Utilize Instructional Techniques: Utilize a variety of instructional techniques, including visual aids, assistive technology, and multisensory approaches, to enhance student learning.
  • Assess Student Progress: Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Collaborate with other teachers, therapists, and support staff to develop and implement effective strategies for student success.
  • Monitor and Track Student Behavior: Monitor and track student behavior and provide behavior management interventions as needed.
  • Foster a Positive Classroom Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, acceptance, and collaboration among students.
  • Communicate with Parents/Guardians: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for support.
  • Attend Staff Meetings and Professional Development: Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Stay Current with Research and Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with current research, best practices, and legal requirements in special education.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Credentials: Valid California Teaching Credential in Special Education.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Personal Qualities: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
