X-ray Imaging Specialist

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled X-ray Imaging Specialist to join its Radiology team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for performing complex imaging examinations while ensuring a safe environment for patients.
Job Summary
The Senior Radiologic Technologist is a vital role that requires strong technical skills and excellent patient care abilities. We are looking for an experienced professional who can provide high-quality imaging services while promoting a supportive environment for patients and families.
About the Role
- Perform complex imaging examinations using various equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
- Review and evaluate requisitions for Diagnostic imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
- Select appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
- Assess patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develop a care plan for that patient's specific needs.
- Explain the examination and answer questions from patients and parents regarding the exam and radiation exposure, practicing ALARA.
- FOLLOW Departmental QC/Data Integrity Workflow.
- PRACTICE High Reliability Training.
- Respond to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining daily operations.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Modality Manager, Chief Technologist or Assistant Chief Technologist i.e., such as ordering supplies, QA/QC projects, lead inventory, etc.
- Help with new departmental /hospital initiatives.
- Promote positive morale, teamwork, and willingness to make a significant contribution.
- Train fellows, residents, students and staff in imaging procedures and techniques.
- Act as a mentor to less experienced staff.
- Participate in departmental and hospital meetings.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Comply with ETU.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Practice the 6 core values of the Hospital: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability.
- Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
- Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.
Requirements
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
- Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT certification.
- BLS certification
- Associates Degree
- 3 years of experience
- Current MA Radiologic Technologist license is required for General Radiography
