Kinship Navigator Specialist

The Kinship Navigator Specialist plays a vital role in supporting kinship caregivers by providing guidance, resources, and advocacy services to help them navigate the system of out-of-home care supports and services for children. This position requires a strong understanding of the complexities of kinship care and the ability to build trust with families.

• Accept referrals from the community and respond within one business day.
• Prioritize and manage multiple cases simultaneously, maintaining frequent communication with direct supervisors.
• Provide caregivers with information, referrals, and advocacy services to help them access benefits and resources.
• Assist caregivers in identifying and removing barriers to receiving services, including accessing health care and legal services.
• Develop and implement Navigation Plans in partnership with caregivers to meet identified needs.
• Ensure kinship families have access to benefits for which they are eligible, including Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) and respite care services.
• Collaborate with community stakeholders to develop open and clear communication, attending community meetings as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings and assist other program staff as needed.
• Analyze data to identify trends and directions for future systemic advocacy efforts.

• Bachelor's Degree in social work or a related human services field.
• Previous child welfare experience required, with two years preferred.
• Experience working with at-risk populations and demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities.
• Outstanding organizational and planning skills, with a solid commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for relative and kinship families.
• Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills, with the talent to quickly establish rapport and build trust.
