Job Summary

Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Bridge Inspection Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough bridge inspections to ensure the structural integrity and safety of our infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of bridge inspections by collecting existing bridge reports and data, gathering equipment, and coordinating inspection routes.
  • Review and interpret plans and site layouts to obtain information about the bridges.
  • Inspect bridge superstructures, substructures, approach roadways, safety features, stream channels, and signing to ensure compliance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards and FHWA bridge inspection metrics.
  • Assign Condition and Appraisal ratings to the various components of bridges in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Collect and enter bridge inspection data into our Bridge Management System using electronic iForms and BMS2web systems.
  • Monitor construction site progress and perform other duties as required by contract documents.
  • Serve as on-site project representative.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (desirable but not required).
  • Certified Bridge Safety Inspector (CBSI) certification or willingness to complete a 3-week training course and pass the test.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and year-round.
  • Ability to navigate rugged terrain, work at heights, climb, wade in waterways, work from a boat, and work in and around traffic.
  • Valid Driver's License.
