Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Optometry Technician to join our team at ERP International. As an Optometry Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our optometrists and ophthalmologists in providing exceptional eye care to our patients.


Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role include:


  • Receiving patients before and after examination, taking necessary measurements, and recording information on patient health records.
  • Accurately measuring pupillary distance, temple length, and other vital information for proper eyewear fitting.
  • Assisting with patient education on eye health and vision conditions, including contact lens insertion, removal, and hygiene.
  • Entering refractometry or habitual refractive prescription data into a phoropter, including sphere, cylinder, and axis.
  • Providing basic triage of patient telephone calls or optometry requests.
  • Restocking eye clinic exam rooms with ophthalmic medications and supplies.
  • Assisting with patient history review, including chief complaint, history of present condition, and pertinent medical, ocular, and family history.
  • Verifying spectacle prescription data, including sphere, cylinder, prism, and interpupillary distance.
  • Measuring visual acuity, distance and near, corrected and uncorrected.
  • Performing corneal curvature measurements using a keratometer.
  • Assessing color vision using pseudoisochromatic plates if directed.
  • Using auto-refractors to determine patient spectacle prescriptions.
  • Performing other screening duties as directed.
  • Instilling drops as directed.
  • Performing intra-ocular pressure screenings.
  • Performing visual field evaluations using automated and manual visual field analyzers independently.
  • Assisting with selecting and fitting eyeglass frames and lenses, including measurements for ordering.
  • Ordering spectacles as directed, completing necessary forms.
  • Adjusting spectacles for proper fit.
  • Minor repair of spectacles and determining when spectacles are not repairable.
  • Performing fundus photography and ophthalmology MIC imaging procedures as directed.
  • Assisting with monitoring patient flow to ensure timely care.
  • Assisting with screening phone calls, walk-in patients, and patient inquiries, and scheduling as necessary.
  • Assisting with vision clinic coordination and scheduling.
  • Assisting with coordination of spectacle and supply orders.
  • Delivering patient education as directed by provider.
  • Providing support to other areas in the clinic and staff when directed by Optometrist.
  • Assisting with other patient care tasks or clinic administrative tasks as deemed appropriate by the staff Optometrist/Ophthalmologist.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:


  • A high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Minimum of 1-year full-time experience within the last 2 years as an Optician or Optometry Technician in a clinical setting.
  • American Board of Opticianry certification encouraged, but not required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to pass a Government background check and obtain a Government security clearance.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $23.13-$29.00, based on qualifications, experience, and location.
