Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at Impact Talent Solutions. As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the microscopic screening and diagnosis of gynecological and miscellaneous specimens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform microscopic screening and diagnosis of gynecological and miscellaneous specimens
  • Assist in collecting and preparing fine needle aspiration specimens
  • Perform ancillary prep, clerical, and quality control duties as needed
  • Enter negative gynecological results into a computer
  • Participate in on-site cytology and other continuing education opportunities
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient-related information

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation accredited school of cytotechnologist or other organization approved by Health and Human Services
  • Certification in cytotechnologist by a certification agency approved by HHS (e.g., American Society of Clinical Pathologists)
  • Louisiana CYT license or eligibility

Physical and Environmental Demands:

Sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.

The incumbent works in a patient care area, in an area where patients enter, directly with patients, and/or with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There may be an occupational risk of exposure to communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works in a healthcare setting, there may be an occupational risk of exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste in the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
