Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Product Design and Development (PDD) process to ensure all product definitions and specifications are effectively communicated and met.
  • Engage actively in product design discussions, focusing on specifications, material choices, 3D CAD modeling, and comprehensive 2D documentation.
  • Work collaboratively within cross-functional project teams from initial concept through testing and into production phases.
  • Perform design assessments to ensure manufacturability, emphasizing lean manufacturing principles, production volume, cost efficiency, and performance criteria.
  • Generate design concepts that align with cost targets and liaise with vendors to identify and approve necessary components.
  • Maintain thorough design documentation and adhere to engineering document control protocols to ensure all drawings are current.
  • Identify opportunities for design commonality to facilitate manufacturing standardization.
  • Exhibit strong technical writing skills by preparing and archiving design analysis reports for future reference, while also demonstrating effective interpersonal communication through presentations.
  • Respond promptly to Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action requests related to design and warranty issues, supporting engineering solutions in the field.
  • Assist colleagues with project workloads to meet management expectations and production timelines.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Comply with established company policies and procedures, particularly regarding safety regulations.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment as per training guidelines.
  • Ensure workspace cleanliness by applying 6S principles to minimize safety hazards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Experience with engineering document control.
  • Ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
