Position Summary:

The Paving Operations Supervisor will oversee the safe and effective management of paving activities while leading the crew members engaged in these tasks.

Salary Range: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour (Varies based on experience and qualifications)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  2. Direct the paving crew to complete projects at various sites, ensuring adherence to job specifications.
  3. Maintain clear and professional communication with crew members, clients, quality assurance teams, contractors, and management.
  4. Regularly stand for extended periods, perform physical tasks, and navigate various work environments.
  5. Accurately report on labor, materials, and other relevant job details.
  6. Possess knowledge of machinery controls, safety features, and operational guidelines in line with company policies.
  7. Assist project management in formulating and executing project plans and standards to meet objectives.
  8. Collect and accurately input employee time records into the designated system.
  9. Promptly report any equipment damage, safety hazards, or incidents to the Construction Manager.
  10. Be capable of lifting and manipulating weights of up to 50 pounds consistently.
  11. Exhibit flexibility in work hours, including early starts, extended shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  12. Perform additional duties as required.

Work Environment:

The role requires the ability to work in moderate to loud noise levels, endure long hours of standing and outdoor labor in varying weather conditions, often in extreme heat.

Physical Requirements:

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with five years of experience in the paving industry, preferably in a supervisory role. Knowledge of DOT regulations and the ability to interpret MSDS sheets is necessary. Candidates should possess strong skills in calculating yield, slope, grade, paving speed, and trucking requirements, as well as a solid understanding of best practices in paving. The ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills are required. Travel may be necessary, and candidates must pass a physical and drug screening.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversee all hourly employees within the paving operations, focusing on work schedules, safety, and productivity.

Independent Work:

Conduct work independently within established guidelines and practices.

Requirements:

To excel in this position, individuals must effectively perform each essential function. A valid driver's license is mandatory, and a CDL license is preferred.
