Covenant Logistics Group is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Operations Manager to oversee the operational execution of managed transportation execution for designated accounts. This role requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and direction for assigned accounts, ensuring operational execution meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Plan and execute daily cross-customer tactical transportation management activities, managing required responses and ensuring timely resolution of operational issues.
- Document, analyze, manage, and report on operations execution and employee performance management metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing process changes as needed.
- Supervise and create work process flows and training documents for operational execution functions, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Supervise methodologies to reduce spend and increase service, both within and across customers, and work with carrier management to maintain contracted lane rates, tariffs, and discounts.
- Identify cost reduction, process improvement, and revenue generation opportunities, and implement changes to drive business growth.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Responsible for operational execution of a specific segment of managed transportation execution, including order receipt, planning, and optimization, as well as carrier selection and tender for designated accounts.
- Supervise a team of leads/coordinators/senior coordinators handling execution through track and trace functionality for every load and shipment, ensuring accurate data flow and exception resolution necessary for settlement and reporting.
- Execute spot buys for hot, one-off, and/or unusual non-contracted lanes, and inform carrier management of new contracted purchase requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership and success in tactical roles, with a strong track record of driving business results.
- Strong problem-solving, sound judgment, and good decision-making ability, with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Good multi-tasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Self-motivated with strong time management skills, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with peer departments, service providers, and customers.
- Solid experience and knowledge of TMS, Load Boards, Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint, with a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum four years of experience with transportation operations background required.
- Competitive Compensation Package, including a salary range of $49,657.32-$77,923.79 and a pay grade of 8.
