Job Title: Software Design Engineer 2

Cole Engineering Services Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Software Design Engineer 2 to join our team. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing modern full-stack software applications using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) design principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop software applications using OOP design principles, microservice-based software architectures, and the most advantageous framework/language to complete the objective and solve technical challenges.
  • Work as part of an Agile scrum team in the development and integration of infrastructure as code and automation software into fully functional production applications to support Cyber Training capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense.
  • Elevate software engineering standards and assist the engineering team in software system or subsystem development and documentation efforts.
  • Implement and expand unit tests, integration tests, and discuss edge-case trade-offs between productivity and stability.
  • Understand and adhere to project schedules and stay within established budgets.
  • Break down complex issues into smaller, manageable solutions.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate problems and solutions with the team, both verbally and electronically.
Requirements:
  • Strong object-oriented programming expertise.
  • Expertise with JavaScript, Java Spring Boot, React, Angular, or other related libraries.
  • Experience in Linux shell scripting.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, systems, or software engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 2+ years applicable software engineering experience.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with containerization of applications (e.g. Docker).
  • Experience with DevOps or CI/CD processes.
  • Experience with back-end development, including node.js, web servers (Nginx, Apache, etc.), database servers, etc.
  • Agile development principles.
  • Agile team planning tools, such as Atlassian Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Database design.
Security Clearance:

In accordance with the specifications of a government contract, eligibility for this position mandates U.S. Citizenship status with ability to obtain a SECRET to TOP SECRET security clearance. The precise security clearance requisites will be detailed in the Government's Task Order.
