We are seeking an Agricultural Assistant to join our team at Shepherd University.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in vegetable production and learn essential skills such as teamwork, leadership, and physical endurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the production of vegetables at our field site at Tabler Farm.
  • Perform light manual labor tasks such as seeding, transplanting, harvesting, processing, and record keeping of crops.
  • Maintain production plots by pruning, weeding, watering, bed preparation, and mulching.
  • Support office work including data entry, event coordination, and communication with volunteers and students.
Requirements
  • Federal Work Study Eligible Student
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Shepherd University
  • Degree-seeking student
  • Must have reliable transportation to the site located off campus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working outside or on a vegetable farm
  • Knowledge of vegetable gardening and/or courses like ENVS 340 or ENVS 350
