About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist III to join our team at Sargent Aerospace & Defense. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining complex machinery, ensuring high-quality production and meeting customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain CNC lathes and mills, as well as conventional and special-purpose machines
  • Perform precision machining operations, including drilling, grinding, and milling
  • Inspect and test parts to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot and resolve production issues
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes
  • Train and mentor junior machinists to develop their skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in machining, preferably in an aerospace or defense industry
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming and operation
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent measurement and inspection skills, including GD&T and CMM operation
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • College coursework in a related field, such as manufacturing engineering or mechanical engineering
  • Experience with Master Cam or other CNC programming software
  • Knowledge of spherical surfaces and threads, as well as experience with machining titanium and thin-walled aluminum parts
