Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Server to join our Dining Services team at Mennonite Village. As a Server, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional service to our residents and ensuring a positive dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and service of food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies and procedures.
  • Take residents' orders and deliver food in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe dining environment, adhering to daily cleaning schedules and ensuring work areas are clean at all times.
  • Set up the dining room before each meal and bus tables after each meal.
  • Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance, making only authorized substitutions and assisting in food preparation as needed.
  • Report any hazardous equipment or conditions, accidents, or breaches of HIPAA policies to the Dining Services Director or Dining Assistant Manager.
  • Establish and maintain a sanitary work environment through routine washing, sweeping, mopping, and garbage removal.
  • Work in the dish room, washing dishes and following established health precautions.
  • Assist with checking special diets before meal distribution, following meal plans, house and therapeutic diets, and portion control procedures as needed.
  • Prepare and deliver snacks as required.
Requirements
  • Supportive of the Mennonite Village philosophy.
  • Related work experience in an institutional food service department or restaurant preferred.
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain a Food Handlers card within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. of food items, supplies, or equipment.
  • Ability to safely move frequently during the workday, including lifting, carrying, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, twisting, and kneeling.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to safely operate a stove and other cooking equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to work in hot and moist areas.
  • Ability to work with and communicate effectively with the elderly.
