Job Summary:

The Clinical Research Nurse in the Department of Surgery at Temple University will be responsible for the day-to-day activities surrounding clinical research studies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations. This role will work closely with investigators on multiple active protocols and interact with sponsors from qualification visits to close-out visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and execute clinical trials in the Department of Surgery
  • Coordinate study enrollment, establish, or maintain databases of subjects, protocol treatment, and follow-up care for subjects participating in clinical trials
  • Assure that clinical trial study protocols are followed
  • Assess subjects on study for complications related to therapy/treatment
  • Communicate observations/findings to attending physicians, investigators, and in medical records as required
  • Communicate routinely with sponsoring organizations and conduct monitoring visits in collaboration with sponsoring trial organizations
  • Maintain study protocols, updates, amendments, and communicate these to, and as required by, the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
  • Under the supervision of the Department of Surgery Research Administrator, the Research Nurse will conduct clinical trials in adherence with FDA, IRB, Pennsylvania, and related regulations

Requirements:

  • Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of PA
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN preferred
  • Critical Care/ICU experience and at least one year of research experience
