Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Protective Investigations Lead Specialist to join our team at the Department of Family & Protective Svc. As a key member of our investigations unit, you will be responsible for conducting complex investigations of child abuse and neglect cases, providing consultation and assistance to staff, and serving as a mentor and trainer to junior investigators.

About the Role

The Child Protective Investigations Lead Specialist will work independently and collaboratively with other professionals to assess current or future risk to children, determine appropriate actions to remove or reduce immediate threats to safety, and develop effective working relationships between Child Protective Investigations staff and law enforcement officials, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and other community resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct investigations of child abuse and neglect cases, including interviewing parents, family members, and others; interviewing and examining children; assessing home environment; and gathering pertinent information from other sources.
  • Determine action to be taken to remove or reduce an immediate threat to the safety of a child, including testifying in court to seek emergency protective services, placing children in substitute care, referring family for immediate crisis intervention therapy or other community resources.
  • Enter contact, documentation information, and narratives into the Information Management Protecting Adults and Children System within required agency time frames.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships between Child Protective Investigations staff and law enforcement officials, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and other community resources.
  • Attend and participate in training/meetings/staffing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations.
Requirements
  • Must have graduated from high school or equivalent.
  • Must have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Experience as a Child Protective Investigations Specialist III: Employed as a Child Protective Specialist for 18 months AND have received Child Protective Specialist Certification OR currently employed as a Child Protective Specialist III in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services OR previously employed as a Child Protective Services Specialist III in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services or Experience as a Child Protective Services Special Investigator.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, the position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
