Athletic Trainer Position

Job Summary:

Middletown Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Athletic Trainer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing athletic training coverage for high school athletic programs in both practice and interscholastic competition settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain an effective athletic training program for the high school athletic department, adhering to evidence-based best practices.
  • Provide first aid and injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning for student-athletes, making appropriate physician referrals as needed.
  • Coordinate annual required athletic physicals and supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during sport seasons.
  • Communicate effectively with team physicians, school nurses, and coaching staff to ensure seamless athletic healthcare.
  • Maintain a safe and organized athletic training room, ensuring easy access to necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Develop and implement sport-specific conditioning programs and methods in collaboration with coaching staff.
  • Provide CPR/First Aid/AED certification and recertification courses for athletic coaching staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program and successful passing of a comprehensive test administered by the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Prior experience in a school sports setting, with a preference for bi-lingual candidates.
  • Effective communication skills, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, and a strong work ethic.

Physical and Mental Demands:

The successful candidate must be able to sit or stand for long periods, lift or carry objects up to 40 pounds, and perform manipulative skills such as writing and typing. They must also be able to see and read objects closely, hear normal sounds with background noise, and learn and acquire new information and methodologies.
