Trauma Registrar Job Summary

The Trauma Registrar is a critical member of the Munson Healthcare team, responsible for the development and maintenance of the Munson Medical Center Trauma Registry. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data abstraction and entry into the trauma registry, including identification of reportable cases and concurrent abstraction from in-house charts.
  • Report generation for Trauma PI and research activities related to the MMC Trauma population.
  • Accurate coding of medical information using AIS, ISS, and ICD-9-CM.
  • Development of data acquisition forms, charts, and reports from Access or Excel.
  • Communication with physicians to request clarification on conditions or procedures.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Health Record Technology or equivalent required.
  • Experience using ICD-10-CM/ICD-9-CM coding systems.
  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment

The Trauma Registrar will work in an office environment with occasional exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous substances, and adverse working conditions.
