Position Summary
We are in search of a skilled computer scientist or software engineer to enhance our commercial technology division. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive full-stack expertise, particularly in data engineering and cloud-native DevOps practices. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying Python-based systems that underpin our analytical, financial valuation, pricing, reporting, and execution functionalities.
As a key technologist within the organization, you will collaborate closely with traders and analysts who engage with the system through various methods, including no-code and low-code interfaces such as dashboards and Excel plugins, as well as more technical users who develop sophisticated web applications. Your responsibilities will include providing essential support for maintaining core systems (repository management, data persistence, and application deployment) and creating utility functions and applications. You will translate user requests into technical requirements and rapidly iterate on prototypes while crafting sustainable solutions that require minimal maintenance. This role offers a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of renewable energy and technology while developing management solutions for wholesale power systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee repository dependencies and implement security updates.
- Enhance system durability and improve the accuracy of logic and information dissemination.
- Manage external library dependencies and contribute to preferred libraries as needed.
- Oversee CI/CD workflows.
- Provide design and development assistance to users/builders for analytical and trading applications.
- Create and maintain Python utility modules to ensure consistency and convenience in user-generated code.
- Support coding best practices through pair programming and code reviews.
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage and documentation for all developed modules.
- Integrate third-party applications into our Python and data ecosystem via APIs and command line interfaces.
- Assist users with Python environment setup and ongoing maintenance.
- Provide troubleshooting support for user-generated code.
- Offer support outside of standard working hours while striving to minimize this requirement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Python development.
- Exceptional expertise in at least three of the following areas:
- Kubernetes cluster setup and maintenance.
- Python package management within an organization.
- Manipulation and persistence of time series data using DataFrame libraries and columnar storage.
- Data modeling in Python.
- API development in Python.
- Application development for energy markets.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, ownership mentality, entrepreneurial spirit, and collaborative mindset.
