Job Overview

The CNC Machining Specialist is tasked with the setup and operation of CNC milling machines, lathes, or laser cutters to manufacture components that adhere to customer and quality standards.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Interpreting blueprints, sketches, and specifications to ascertain dimensions and tolerances of finished components, as well as the sequence of operations and setup requirements.
  • Executing the setup of all machinery, which includes selecting, aligning, and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials.
  • Measuring, marking, and scribing dimensions and reference points on materials or components to guide subsequent machining processes.
  • Initiating and monitoring machine operations to identify malfunctions or deviations from specified tolerances.
  • Modifying machine controls or parameters as necessary to rectify any discrepancies.
  • Utilizing precision measuring tools such as calipers and CMM programs to assess the accuracy of the work produced.
  • Verifying the first piece machined for compliance with dimensions and tolerances before continuing with the production run.
  • Collaborating with engineers, production staff, and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot machining or assembly issues.
  • Maintaining the ability to stand for extended periods and lift weights up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications Required:

A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent proficiency in reading, writing, and performing mathematical calculations at a high school level.
  • 1-3 years of experience or formal training in CNC machine setup and operation.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
  • Capability to read and interpret technical drawings and routings.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Working Environment:

Typical manufacturing floor conditions with potential exposure to various elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise, vibration, oil, and water.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical certification or an Associate's degree in CNC machining.
  • Experience with operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Knowledge of metallurgical properties or relevant coursework.
  • 5+ years of experience in the setup and operation of CNC mills, lathes, and/or laser cutting machines.
