Position Overview
El Paso Children's Hospital is expanding its services and is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit (Pediatric IMC). This role focuses on delivering specialized nursing care to pediatric patients who are stable but require more intensive monitoring than standard care can provide.
Role Responsibilities
Nurses in this unit are responsible for assessing and managing conditions that necessitate a higher level of care. This includes:
- Monitoring recovery for children post-surgery.
- Managing chronic illnesses and complex medical conditions.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of pediatric patients.
Effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team is essential to provide holistic and compassionate care.
Essential Skills
Candidates should possess the following competencies:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills to foster relationships with patients and families.
- Proficiency in computer usage for documentation.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand English instructions and safety protocols.
Qualifications
Experience
Licenses and Certifications
Current RN License in Texas.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire.
Education
Associate's degree in Nursing; BSN is preferred.
