Host/Hostess

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Host/Hostess to join our team at The Common Man. As a Host/Hostess, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, setting the tone for their dining experience.

• Greet and seat guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Present menus and inform guests of special catches and soups
• Treat all guests with exceptional service, striving to exceed their expectations
• Manage the waiting list and run the floor plan board
• Keep track of clean, dirty, and occupied tables
• Take guest information and quote wait times accurately
• Clean and organize the host area, including menus and supplies
• Answer phone calls and respond to guest inquiries
• Interact with guests throughout their dining experience

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 pounds
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior restaurant experience preferred

The Common Man is a restaurant and bar environment with a drafty work station and loud noise levels. Hazards may include slipping and tripping.

• 100% standing during entire shift
• 75% reaching, bending, and stooping frequently
• 20% carrying 20-lb highchair over medium distances
• 50% verbal communication with guests and phone callers
