Position Overview:

Work Schedule:

90% FTE, evening/night shifts with a rotation of weekends and holidays. Hours will be determined by the operational requirements of the unit.

Join the UW Carbone Cancer Center, the sole comprehensive cancer center in Wisconsin as recognized by the National Cancer Institute.

We are in search of a Registered Nurse - Care Team Leader (CTL) to:
  • Act as a frontline leader within a 39-bed unit specializing in hematology, oncology, bone marrow transplant, and palliative care.
  • Collaborate with a team of exceptional nurses dedicated to providing compassionate care to their patients.
  • Deliver care to critically ill patients, including those at the end of life and those receiving bone marrow, stem cell transplants, and cellular therapies (CAR T).
  • Work alongside management in recruitment efforts and patient experience evaluations.
  • Engage in quality improvement projects and spearhead practice innovations.
  • Participate in advanced, evidence-based treatments and research initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes.
  • Develop expertise as an oncology RN, with formal training in hematologic malignancies, oncologic emergencies, bone marrow transplants, palliative care, and chemotherapy certification.

Educational Requirements:

Preferred - Bachelor's degree in nursing.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum -
  • Two (2) years of experience in an inpatient care setting.
  • A combination of two (2) years of work and leadership experience may be considered in lieu of the inpatient experience requirement.
Preferred -
  • Three (3) years of experience in an acute care inpatient environment.
  • Relevant RN experience with the specific patient population of the department.
Licensure and Certification:

Minimum -
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wisconsin or a jurisdiction that is part of the nurse licensure compact.
  • Valid CPR/BLS certification.
Preferred - National certification in a relevant specialty.
