Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to ensure the comfort and well-being of patients. This role involves preparing equipment and assisting physicians during examinations and treatments. The RN administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs of patients. Additionally, the RN observes and maintains detailed records on patient care, conditions, reactions, and progress.
The RN plays a vital role as a primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care. This position requires directing and assisting in the implementation of safe aseptic techniques and procedures. The RN also provides leadership and guidance to all support staff within the department.
Unit A9 Overview:
A9 is a 27-bed unit specializing in the care of neurological, thoracic, abdominal, and orthopedic trauma patients. This unit serves as the designated overflow unit for stroke patients. As a nurse in this dynamic environment, you will collaborate with a diverse and highly skilled team of physicians, advanced practitioners, RNs, LVNs, therapists, RRTs, and ancillary staff. Our unit prioritizes teamwork and collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Preferred: One year of nursing experience.
- Current Texas State RN License.
- CPR certification (American Heart Association).
- ACLS certification required within six months of hire/transfer.
- EKG certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- TNCC certification required within 18 months of hire/transfer.
