Deliver exceptional service and maintenance for the DESMA machinery product range, focusing primarily on rubber and silicone injection molding equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Execute comprehensive maintenance, warranty, and repair services (both structural and routine) on the entire company machinery product line.
Adhere to DESMA safety protocols and/or customer-specific procedures while performing tasks at client locations.
Exhibit a strong understanding of the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of the product line, along with the relevant repair and service procedures.
Stay updated with the latest skills and knowledge to effectively service and repair new machinery, incorporating innovative service and repair techniques. Gain a thorough understanding of service protocols as outlined in the DESMA Service Manual and apply these in the refurbishment of DESMA Equipment, seeking assistance for more complex rebuild tasks.Utilize operator, parts, and maintenance manuals to determine procedures and identify necessary components.
Possess the ability to interpret European hydraulic schematics (symbols and formats); DESMA documentation is available in English.
Demonstrate the capability to trace wiring to various components within the electrical cabinet and other machine features.
Have a solid grasp of using a multi-meter for troubleshooting; understand high voltage (3-phase incoming plant wiring and its implications for our machinery), low voltage (control voltage), current, resistance, and grounding issues.
CUSTOMER SERVICE STANDARDS:
Maintain clear, consistent, and effective communication with customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
Keep accurate records of all service, repairs, and related work, ensuring proper completion of service repair orders, warranty documentation, and service agreements.
Adhere to record-keeping protocols concerning time tracking, parts inventory, customer invoicing, and expense reporting.
Assist customers, upon request, in understanding proper machine operation, capabilities, and recommended actions during machinery breakdowns.
Collaborate with sales account managers to identify potential new product needs and address situations that may affect customer relationships and future sales opportunities.
Where appropriate, work to generate additional service and parts revenue by helping customers identify unmet needs and gaps in service contract coverage.
A proficient DESMA Service Technician can utilize visual and auditory cues to identify issues during machinery repairs.EMPLOYEE REQUIREMENTS:
Exhibit good manual dexterity for disassembling, repairing, and reassembling hydraulic cylinders with new sealing kits.
Possess mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting or repairing hydraulic systems.
Ability to work in a factory setting on your feet for extended periods, up to 12 hours daily.
Capability to disassemble large machine components for diagnostics and repairs.
In certain cases, the Shop Service Technician may mentor other trainees within DESMA USA; however, this position does not include direct reports.
Effective collaboration and teamwork with other service, manufacturing, engineering, and sales personnel at DESMA is essential. Interaction with customer representatives is also necessary.
Overtime and shift work may be required.
Coordinate the use of forklifts, overhead cranes, and basic rigging for large mechanical components.
Basic knowledge of PC-based control systems is beneficial, as modern DESMA control systems integrate various diagnostic features.
Physical effort is necessary to handle objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling are required for servicing and repairing equipment.
Service-related tools weighing up to 75 pounds must be transported to perform necessary tasks.
A high level of dexterity is required for the use of various hand and power tools.
Successfully complete assigned training programs and classes provided by DESMA.
Occasional travel to customer sites is required (5-25% travel), including potential international travel for training in Germany. A valid passport is necessary for this role.
