Job Title: CDL Driver I

At Meeks Lumber & Hardware, a Division of US LBM Holdings, LLC, we're seeking a skilled CDL Driver I to join our team. As a CDL Driver I, you will be responsible for delivering materials to job sites, inspecting and maintaining your truck, and reporting any shortages or claims to your supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a truck with a capacity of more than three tons, safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect and maintain your truck to ensure it's in good working condition.
  • Report any shortages or claims to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Assist in loading and storing materials, as needed.
  • Prepare DOT required logs of time on duty and driving.
  • Organize and secure loads to prevent damage or loss.
  • Check orders for accuracy and ensure that all materials are delivered to customers' satisfaction.
  • Deliver and unload materials to customers' satisfaction.
  • Complete daily equipment pre-inspections and record any issues.
  • Record all merchandise that is returned by truck and assist in unloading material returned for credit.
  • Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assist supervisor, other employees, and other work areas, as assigned.
  • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in the yard and warehouse.
  • Comply with all company policies and guidelines.
  • Operate truck-mounted forklifts safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of your truck.
  • Participate in and complete assigned trainings.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • CDL experience preferred, with basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.
  • 1-3 years CDL experience required for interstate commerce.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
  • Maintain current operator's license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
  • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
  • Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS, and other necessary business applications).
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Class A CDL License Required or Class B CDL License Required.
