We are seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team at Dogwood Industries, a leading steel fabrication company. As a Laborer, you will play a critical role in supporting the fabrication, painting, and assembly of steel building structures in accordance with plans, specifications, and quality control hold points in an industrial manufacturing atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the Quality Assurance Program to ensure adherence to industry standards and company policies.
- Use hand and power tools to clean and prep steel surfaces for fabrication and assembly.
- Handle and move materials and equipment as needed to support production.
- Read and understand work orders and project task codes to ensure accurate completion of tasks.
- Mix and prepare paint coatings according to manufacturer's instructions and company procedures.
- Apply paints and coatings to steel surfaces in accordance with procedures and manufacturer's instructions.
- Accurately record quality data on cleaning and coating reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Clean and maintain the factory work areas and bathrooms to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the team and achieve company goals.
- Understand and follow all workplace safety rules and the safe operation of tools and equipment when applicable.
- Ability to use a range of hand and power tools, including but not limited to, drills, saws, and sanders.
- Ability to read and understand product labels and follow directions for paints, solvents, and other related products.
- Ability to reach, bend, crawl, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds with no restrictions.
- Ability to be fitted for and use a respirator when required.
- Ability to be self-directed, requiring little or no supervision.
- Ability to work well with others and participate as a team member when appropriate.
- 1+ years of laborer or carpentry experience.
- High school diploma, general education degree, or vocational degree.
- Previous construction, manufacturing, or mechanical experience.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance for extended periods of time. Be able to lift, pull, and push material and equipment to complete assigned job tasks. Be able to lift 70 pounds. The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. This position requires physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities in a primarily production environment.
Compensation and BenefitsWe offer a competitive hourly wage of $34.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes health benefits, company-paid and supplemental life insurance, short-term disability, accident and hospital insurance, paid vacation, paid sick leave, and paid holidays. We also offer a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match and an Employee Referral Bonus Program.
