Job Summary

The City of Portsmouth, VA is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Services department, you will play a critical role in providing professional, administrative, operational, and developmental work in our Children's Community Crisis Stabilization Services (CCCSS) program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to meet the unique needs of children and youth.
  • Design and deliver training programs to promote interpersonal skills, essential skills, and coping skills.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation according to program standards.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, as well as case management as needed.
  • Assess members' needs and connect them with community resources and services.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a college or university with a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Professional certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) - Adult or Child, or QMHP eligible.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
