Healthcare Support Specialist
The main objective of the Healthcare Support Specialist is to assist healthcare providers in delivering patient care and preparing examination areas. This role will report to the Practice Administrator.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES of the Healthcare Support Specialist
- Assist Physicians, Mid-Level Practitioners, and Registered Nurses in the assessment, management, and treatment of patients in an outpatient care environment.
- Manage patient flow, maintain cleanliness and organization of examination and treatment rooms, and perform essential tasks such as taking vital signs and conducting point-of-care tests.
- Support the physician during office-based surgical procedures, demonstrating knowledge of sterile techniques and the ability to assist effectively during medical interventions.
- Administer intramuscular injections, immunizations, and over-the-counter medications under the supervision of a Physician.
- Must be capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS of the Healthcare Support Specialist
- High School diploma or equivalent GED
- Willingness to travel to various office locations (Required)
- Experience with sterile techniques (Required)
- At least one year of experience in a surgical clinical setting (Required)
- Current CPR Certification is mandatory
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program is preferred (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT)
- Experience with EMR systems: 1 year (eCW Preferred)
- Able to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Open to constructive feedback and eager to develop professionally
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current CPR Certification. Current Medical Assistant Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT (preferred). All employees must provide proof of vaccination or exemption.
COMPENSATION
$20-22 per hour + Travel Reimbursement
SCHEDULE
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
