Eligibility

- Act as a primary healthcare provider, conducting medical assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for military personnel, retirees, their families, and select civilian staff across various medical specialties.
- Deliver medical services or direct patient care, which includes diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic interventions in healthcare facilities, clinics, public health initiatives, and diagnostic centers.
- Engage in occupational health programs, conducting research and experimental studies on health conditions, their prevention, and treatment methodologies.
- Assess disabilities and evaluate claims for compensation or pension benefits.
- Provide guidance, administration, and oversight of professional and scientific healthcare practices.
Conditions of Employment

Basic Requirements:
Education: A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution in the U.S. or Canada.
Licensure: Candidates must possess a permanent, unrestricted medical license to practice in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territories.
Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised clinical experience post-degree, such as an internship or the first year of residency in an accredited program.
Additional Requirements for Higher Grades:
For GS/GP-13: Three years of graduate training in the relevant specialty or equivalent experience.
For GS/GP-14: Four years of graduate training in the relevant specialty or equivalent experience.
For GS/GP-15: Five years of graduate training in the relevant specialty or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Your qualifications will be assessed based on your expertise in the following areas:
- Understanding of specialized medical principles.
- Familiarity with laws and regulations governing medical practices.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and treating patients.
- Ability to instruct and guide healthcare providers and support staff.
- Skill in evaluating and managing a variety of medical conditions.
