  • Act as a primary healthcare provider, conducting medical assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for military personnel, retirees, their families, and select civilian staff across various medical specialties.
  • Deliver medical services or direct patient care, which includes diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic interventions in healthcare facilities, clinics, public health initiatives, and diagnostic centers.
  • Engage in occupational health programs, conducting research and experimental studies on health conditions, their prevention, and treatment methodologies.
  • Assess disabilities and evaluate claims for compensation or pension benefits.
  • Provide guidance, administration, and oversight of professional and scientific healthcare practices.
Essential Requirements

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Education: A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution in the U.S. or Canada.

Licensure: Candidates must possess a permanent, unrestricted medical license to practice in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or U.S. territories.

Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised clinical experience post-degree, such as an internship or the first year of residency in an accredited program.

Additional Requirements for Higher Grades:

For GS/GP-13: Three years of graduate training in the relevant specialty or equivalent experience.

For GS/GP-14: Four years of graduate training in the relevant specialty or equivalent experience.

For GS/GP-15: Five years of graduate training in the relevant specialty or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Your qualifications will be assessed based on your expertise in the following areas:
  1. Understanding of specialized medical principles.
  2. Familiarity with laws and regulations governing medical practices.
  3. Proficiency in diagnosing and treating patients.
  4. Ability to instruct and guide healthcare providers and support staff.
  5. Skill in evaluating and managing a variety of medical conditions.
