Job Summary

The Central Sterile Technician II plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety at Grady Health System. As a key member of our sterile processing team, you will be responsible for the decontamination, preparation, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical, diagnostic, and clinical instrumentation and reusable medical devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate and prepare instrumentation and equipment for sterilization in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and sterilizers, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Assemble and package sterilized instrumentation and equipment for distribution to various departments within the hospital.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless delivery of sterilized instrumentation and equipment to meet patient care needs.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance sterile processing practices and patient safety.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to sterilization processes and equipment performance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; certification in Sterile Processing from a recognized organization (e.g., IAHCSMM, CBSPD) preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in sterile processing or a related field; or completion of an accredited sterile processing program.
  • Knowledge of sterilization principles, practices, and regulations (e.g., AAMI, AORN, JCHO).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a focus on patient safety and satisfaction.
