We're seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our team at SMRT. As an Engineer of Record for mechanical scope, you'll be responsible for developing schematic level information and documenting project work in accordance with codes, SMRT, and industry standards.

This role involves:

  • Functioning as Engineer of Record for mechanical scope.
  • Developing schematic level information and documenting project work in accordance with codes, SMRT, and industry standards.
  • Supervising quality and efficient production of contract documents.
  • Performing modeling and calculations.
  • Researching specifications and materials.
  • Reviewing and responding to contractor submittals and RFIs.
  • Visiting project sites for existing conditions assessments, construction progress observation, and project closeout.
  • Coordinating and communicating project workloads with discipline leaders and other members of the mechanical group.
  • Working under supervision of discipline leaders.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of national, state, and local codes as they pertain to mechanical systems.
  • Ability to relate to building construction, their components in three dimensions, and interact with other disciplines to coordinate all document efforts.
  • Understanding of materials, systems, and commercial building construction.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines on multiple projects.
  • Experience working with HVAC software such as Trane Trace.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing mechanical systems.
  • P.E. license preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.

$70,000 - $80,000 per year
