Job Title: Medical Assistant - OB/GYN

Covenant Health (Tennessee) is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in the OB/GYN department. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of a licensed healthcare professional, the Medical Assistant will perform various clinical and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the OB/GYN department. This includes assisting with patient exams, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Performs basic nursing procedures such as weighing patients, taking vital signs, and listening to fetal heart tones.
  • Assists physicians or practitioners with examinations, various OB/GYN procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and necessary equipment.
  • Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient's medical records.
  • Assists with filling out lab requests and filing lab results in patient's chart.
  • Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when appropriate.
  • Assists with cleaning instruments and cleaning and re-stocking examination rooms on a daily basis.
  • Transports instruments to sterile processing as needed.
  • Obtains informed consent after procedure has been explained to patient.
Qualifications:

Certified Medical Assistant required. CPR required. One (1) year related experience required, or new graduate with less than (1) year experience.
