Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Respite Care Assistant to join our team at Christ House. As a Respite Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing basic patient care and support to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide basic patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living and care of the environment.
  2. Measure and record vital signs as ordered.
  3. Perform admission procedures, including welcoming and orienting new patients to the nursing unit.
  4. Assist patients with maintaining a clean environment and provide clean clothing and bed linens as needed.
  5. Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as showering, shaving, and dressing.
  6. Accompany patients to medical appointments and provide coverage at the desk as needed.
  7. Perform daily end-of-shift cleaning assignments and complete discharge procedures as directed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals who are experiencing homelessness, preferably in a direct patient care setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound judgments.
  • A commitment to teamwork and a willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
