Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Operations department, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining world-class CNC machines to fabricate components for various spaceflight systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setup and operate a variety of CNC machines and equipment to produce accurate components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of components
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Provide design for manufacturing feedback to ensure optimal component design
Requirements
  • Seven (7) years of related CNC experience
  • Two (2) years' experience with multi-axis machines
  • Desired - Two (2) years experience with CNC programming or 15+ Years Manual/Tool and Die
  • Experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Hermle, Hass, DMG Mori, GF Mikron, and/or Okuma
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or other CNC controls
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
  • Familiar with the use of personal computers
  • Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, and stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
  • Tooling and fixture design
  • Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) experience
  • Outside processing knowledge including heat treating, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.
  • CMM programming/operation experience
  • CNC programming skills, preferably NX
  • Conversational programming on the machine
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts
