Job Overview

Supervisory Responsibilities

Accountable for managing designated projects and supervising team members involved.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the maintenance of electrical systems
  • Develop and enforce a comprehensive preventive maintenance schedule
  • Analyze equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement effective repair strategies
  • Maintain a stock of essential electrical components; collaborate with the Maintenance Planner to ensure availability
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes, direct tasks, and ensure compliance with standards
  • Contribute to the knowledge base by sharing experiences to enhance training processes
  • Provide leadership on all matters related to the organization’s electrical systems, from daily operations to strategic discussions
  • Oversee furnace maintenance
  • Establish and monitor a preventive maintenance schedule; review and assess PMs and inspection reports completed by operators
  • Evaluate breakdowns, determine root causes, and devise repair solutions
  • Manage inventory of critical spare parts; coordinate with the Maintenance Planner for stock levels
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors for quotes and project oversight
  • Enhance training programs based on operational experiences
  • Guide all aspects of furnace operations, from daily maintenance to strategic planning
  • Develop the skills and technical expertise of the maintenance team to ensure proficiency in equipment operation and maintenance
  • Work with the Maintenance Superintendent to identify essential skills for the maintenance staff
  • Assess current skill levels and identify gaps
  • Create individualized training plans for team members
  • Facilitate necessary training and manage external training resources
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to document training achievements
  • Continuously assess training programs for effectiveness
  • Collaborate with production staff and supervisors to analyze equipment failures and determine corrective actions
  • Provide expert recommendations on facility and equipment-related inquiries
  • Offer support on electrical matters to related departments
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications

Education: High school diploma required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Experience: At least ten years of maintenance experience in an iron foundry setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes Required

Knowledge

  • Advanced understanding of electric furnaces and electrical systems in an iron foundry
  • In-depth knowledge of the operation, repair, and maintenance of foundry facilities and equipment
  • Strong familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Preventive Maintenance concepts
  • Proficient in the information systems necessary for job performance.

Typical Physical Demands

This position requires frequent walking, use of hands for handling and manipulation, reaching, and climbing. Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crawling may be necessary. The ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds is required. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
