About the Role

Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemist to join our team in the development and implementation of analytical methods for marketed products. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing routine laboratory analyses, reviewing and interpreting data, and documenting results in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and local guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Method Development and Implementation
    • Participate in the transfer of analytical methods for marketed products, including setting strategic direction, authoring, and reviewing method certification documentation.
    • Execute laboratory testing and investigation of observations.
  • Laboratory Testing and Analysis
    • Perform routine laboratory analyses, including UV-Vis, HPLC, and device testing.
    • Review and interpret data, and document results accurately and thoroughly.
  • Investigation and Problem-Solving
    • Utilize technical skills to assist with in-depth investigations associated with out-of-specification results and aberrant data.
    • Draw conclusions and perform root cause analysis investigations, and recommend solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Training and Development
    • Author SOPs and training documentation.
    • Train and mentor laboratory personnel.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor or Master's degree in a science or engineering discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, etc.).
  • Experience
    • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated relevant experience in a GMP laboratory.
    • Previous experience with LC instruments, enterprise chromatography systems, and standalone COTS testing instruments.
  • Skills
    • Experience with Empower and LabVantage LIMS.
    • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and ability to collaborate and interact with management, scientists, engineering, and IT personnel.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and preferred training and experience in Root Cause Analysis methodology.
    • Ability to manage and contribute to multiple concurrent project activities and adapt to changes in priorities.
