Position Summary:
The Compression Technician plays a crucial role in the preventive and corrective maintenance, application, start-up, and commissioning of Certarus' CNG compression assets. This role requires a deep understanding of both practical and theoretical aspects of gas compression, including mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and operational support, ensuring safe practices in CNG equipment usage. The position reports directly to the Lead Compression Technician.
Work Schedule:
- Regular regional travel between Certarus compression hubs, with potential travel outside the assigned region.
- This role follows a rotation schedule of 5 days on and 2 days off.
- Ensure the safe and consistent maintenance of both permanent and portable CNG compression equipment.
- Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using various measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve repetitive and intermittent performance issues at the component level.
- Conduct broad electrical, PLC, and instrumentation troubleshooting as needed.
- Commission new equipment and perform end-of-service inspections on compression assets.
- Assist in maintaining an effective inventory of spare parts and materials.
- Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, and enter findings into the CMMS.
- Maintain the CMMS (Computer Management Maintenance System) consistently.
- Participate in the development of maintenance programs.
- Contribute to team objectives by achieving related results as required.
- Maintain a high standard of equipment cleanliness and organization.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of field service experience in compressor operations is preferred.
- Experience in Natural Gas Compression and additional OEM and industry training is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Waukesha VGF and Ariel systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational and technical communication skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities.
- A solid work ethic characterized by a positive, analytical, and safety-conscious attitude.
- Basic proficiency in computer-based applications such as MS 365.
