Surgical Services Nurse Manager

The Nurse Manager is a working manager responsible for the day-to-day operations of the PACU and Surgery departments. This role oversees the planning, directing, and controlling of staffing assignments to ensure effective coverage and maintain productivity targets.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the preparation and completion of work schedules for the appropriate areas.
- Review daily performance and ensure the department remains within recommended productivity targets and performance benchmarks.
- Recommend staffing changes with appropriate rationale to the Director of Surgical Services.
- Interview and make recommendations for personnel, including hiring, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Review and approve personnel performance appraisals, including establishing goals for each employee.
- Provide counseling and progressive discipline for employees when necessary, including documentation.
- Regularly communicate with supervisors and employees through in-service and staff meetings.
- Participate in meetings with physicians and other departments.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse with a Bachelor's Degree.
- 5 years of experience in the appropriate area of expertise and 2 years in a supervisory or charge nurse position in Surgery/Day Surgery.
