Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the general education teacher and paraprofessional to create a comprehensive and supportive learning environment for elementary school students with special needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with state standards and IEP goals, focusing on the specific needs of young learners.
  • Utilize a variety of research-based instructional strategies and differentiated learning techniques to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Provide targeted instruction within the resource room to address students' unique academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Partner with the general education teacher to co-teach lessons and provide support within the general education classroom setting.
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and report on student achievement.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Requirements
  • California State Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for licensure with a focus on elementary education.
  • Experience working with students with special needs in an elementary school setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development, special education curriculum, assessment practices, and instructional methodologies tailored to elementary school learners with diverse needs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a paraprofessional to provide comprehensive support within the resource classroom.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology to enhance student learning and communication with parents and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for helping young children with special needs reach their full potential.
