The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is currently inviting applications for the position of Speech Therapist.

The primary role of the speech language therapist encompasses comprehensive diagnostic services, which involve the assessment of speech, language, and vocal disorders. Additionally, the therapist will implement effective therapeutic strategies tailored for students with visual impairments.

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Speech Therapy is mandatory, along with eligibility for licensure from the New Mexico Public Education Department. Experience in educating students with visual and multiple impairments is highly desirable. This is a full-time position for the academic year, and applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.

Established in 1903, the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired operates under the governance of a Board of Regents. Initially opened in Alamogordo, New Mexico, the institution has evolved to provide specialized residential, academic, support, and outreach services for students who are blind or visually impaired throughout New Mexico.

The residential campus remains at its original location in Alamogordo, complemented by a second campus in Albuquerque, which features an Early Childhood Program and offers statewide services.
