Job Summary

A Retail Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and assisting customers throughout the buying process at Costello's Ace Hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet every customer and answer their questions, providing information on procedures and policies.
  • Be at your workstation on time and maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
  • Recommend related items and execute the S.A.L.E.S. process to drive sales.
  • Keep your area of responsibility neat, clean, stocked, and priced properly.
  • Assist in the training and development of peers and actively participate in daily huddle meetings.
  • Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards, offering a carry-out if appropriate.
  • Address all safety concerns immediately and advise store management of any pricing errors or customer complaints.
  • Take initiative to learn product knowledge and selling skills to enhance customer satisfaction.
Sales Floor Duties

Aid customers in locating merchandise in-store, on acehardware.com, or processing special orders. Be proficient at executing all store services, such as mixing paint, cutting glass, pipe, and keys. Ensure all shipments are packed out in their proper home and all overstock is away.

Register Duties

Ring each transaction accurately and always ask for the Loyalty Card before starting a transaction. Call for help when more than 3 customers are waiting. Keep busy around the registers when not ringing and process merchandise returns as needed.

Physical Requirements

This role requires frequent walking, standing, and lifting up to 60 lbs. to a height of 4 feet. It also requires frequent reaching, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 50 lbs. Climbing stairs in storage rooms and ladders may be required occasionally. Good vision and hearing are essential for this role.
