The Anesthesia Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the medical team by ensuring that all necessary equipment is prepared and functioning optimally. This includes managing anesthesia carts, troubleshooting machinery, and setting up vital monitoring devices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the anesthesia team during various procedures, including inpatient care, post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), and operating room (OR) activities.
  • Maintain and stock anesthesia carts, ensuring machines are ready for use between surgical procedures and replacing gas tanks as necessary.
  • Prepare and provide specialized anesthesia supplies as requested prior to operations.
  • Set up hemodynamic monitoring devices, including arterial and pulmonary artery catheters, EKGs, and pulse oximeters.
  • Ensure the anesthesia machine is fully operational and address any equipment issues as they arise.
  • Support patient positioning and supply materials for blood collection during surgical interventions.
  • Assist in the setup of equipment for blood product delivery and autotransfusion processes.
  • Help secure IVs and arterial lines, providing assistance during intubation and extubation procedures.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of anesthesia equipment after surgeries; oversee inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned, including equipment disinfection, running errands, and troubleshooting equipment with clinical engineering support.
  • Fulfill all other duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prior experience as an Anesthesia Technician, Medical Assistant, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is preferred.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a surgical suite environment.
WORK SCHEDULE:

The position offers a Monday to Friday schedule with daytime hours, excluding weekends, holidays, and on-call duties.
