Corporate Controller Job Description

HITT Contracting is seeking a seasoned Corporate Controller to oversee all financial activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for stakeholders. This role plays a critical part in improving and creating processes and policies in support of the company mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and report on financial results in accordance with US GAAP, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure journal entries are accurate and accounts/ledgers are up-to-date for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliant and accurate accounting and financial reporting.
  • Transform and institutionalize accounting activities to best practice methodology, balancing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain a system of policies and procedures to control accounting activities.
  • Manage departmental workload and capacity to drive optimum staff utilization and make team recommendations.
  • Provide timely and effective communications to the Corporate Accounting team.
  • Develop and maintain a high-performing accounting organization through training and mentorship of team members.
  • Regularly review career path goals with team members, providing feedback on progression.
  • Create strategies and policies to support and execute all Corporate Accounting activities.
  • Continually assess software systems and automate accounting processes wherever possible.
  • Drive ERP implementation to ensure an efficient and robust financial system.
  • Serve as cross-functional lead for enterprise-wide accounting initiatives.
  • Interface with HITT's external audit partners to ensure internal controls are sound and process improvements are constantly evaluated.
  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax filings.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of progressive management and accounting experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Excel, financial software, and ERP systems.
  • Experience in designing and implementing accounting processes and controls.
  • ERP implementation experience guiding team in the identification of business requirements, functional design, mapping, prototyping, testing, and training a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate financial results in a concise and timely manner.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinker with the ability to conduct research, perform data analysis, and resolve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated self-starter who possesses an entrepreneurial spirit to seek opportunities for efficiency and takes initiative.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining high-performing accounting teams.
