Job Title: Physical Therapist

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking a qualified Physical Therapist to work with students in a school setting.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Physical Therapist to provide physical therapy services to students in a school setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with various physical needs and will be able to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform student reassessments and reevaluate student for rehabilitation needs
  • Work in collaboration with the physician and other members of the healthcare team to modify the plan of care as appropriate
  • Participate in developing the plan of care in collaboration with the physician and other members of the health care team
  • Assess and evaluate and/or assist the physician in assessing and evaluating therapeutic, rehabilitative, function status
  • Assess muscle strength, mobility, gait, and Range of Motion (ROM)
  • Provide physical therapy treatment and establish physical therapy plan of care
  • Instruct student, families, and/or caregivers in the use of and care of therapeutic appliances
  • Determine priority needs for physical therapy
  • Report student's reaction(s) to treatment or changes in condition to physician and/or Building Nurse and Amergis Clinical designee
  • Initiate physical therapy program and instruct, consult, and/or advise other personnel and/or family/caregiver regarding certain phases of physical therapy with which they may work with the patient, and explains the goals of the physical therapy program by participating in case conferences
  • Train student in use of prosthetic device(s) and use of other assistive devices
  • Use appropriate equipment to meet student goals, cleans and maintains equipment according to manufactures guidelines
  • Prepare and submit clinical and progress summaries based on the attainment and progress of goals, and responses to treatment or changes in condition
  • Participate in peer consultation process
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants according to the company's policies/procedures and State regulations
  • Participate in quarterly medical record reviews as applicable
  • Participate in care coordination with the company and other personnel caring for the student to ensure that their efforts effectively complement each other and support the objectives outlined in the plan of care
  • Provide/submits accurate and timely documentation in accordance with the plan of care and company policy and procedures
  • Comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards
Requirements:
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy
  • One (1) year of prior professional Physical Therapy experience preferred
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
