Overview: The Rehabilitation Therapist is responsible for delivering therapeutic services to individuals across various age groups, including youth, adults, and seniors. This role involves assessing the therapeutic requirements of each patient, formulating objectives and treatment strategies in collaboration with the patient and their support network, executing the treatment regimen, and providing educational resources to patients, families, and caregivers.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor of Science, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Licensure: Must possess or be eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist from the relevant state regulatory body. Reliable transportation is necessary for off-site service delivery.
- Experience: Prior experience in a physical rehabilitation environment, including relevant fieldwork or professional experience, is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in Occupational Therapy principles, assessment methodologies, and treatment practices; capable of conducting task analysis and fostering therapeutic relationships with diverse patient populations.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the diverse age, spiritual, and cultural backgrounds of patients and their families.
- Ability to educate patients, caregivers, and family members on therapeutic processes.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Exemplary customer service skills, with a focus on responsiveness to the needs of patients from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
Work Environment: The role requires visual acuity and manual dexterity. Physical demands include a range of movements such as bending, lifting, standing, walking, and reaching. The position may involve lifting and moving objects weighing over 30 lbs.
